TOURS AND TASTINGS

At Blue Mountain Cider, we are proud of the Brown Families’ history and hard work in the Walla Walla Valley, and we would like to share that with you. Blue Mountain Cider offers 3 elevated experiences that can be coupled together or done individually and will help immerse you into the history, geography, and cider making of not only Blue Mountain Cider but also the Walla Walla Valley and the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater. These tasting experiences are led by a member of the Blue Mountain Cider staff and are interactive and fun for both the novice and expert. The full three part tours run between 12:15pm and 2:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays however individual portions can be booked with advanced notice. Orchard Tour
A cider experience unlike anything offered in the Walla Walla Valley. Hop into Blue Mountain Cider’s trusty orchard van for a guided tour through the Brown family’s orchards Walla Walla Valley and Rocks District of Milton Freewater. The tours depart from the historic Watermill Building every Friday and Saturday at 12:15pm. You will walk through the orchard while enjoying breathtaking views, learning about the history of Walla Walla, and sampling ciders made from apples grown in the trees surround you.

Time: Approximately 60 min

Cidery Tour
Take a walk through the historic Watermill building, a former fruit packing plant built in what was then Freewater, Oregon in 1944. A member of the Blue Mountain Cider team will take you through the cidermaking process from press to bottle, explaining each step and the outcome it has on the flavor of the cider. Guests will have the opportunity to view the fermentation tanks, apple press, cidery, and bottling room while tasting a selection of ciders from the Blue Mountain Cider Taproom. By the end of the tour guests should have an understanding of the basics of cider making and how the cider maker’s interpretations can be expressed through the use of different cider making techniques. Tours start every Friday and Saturday at 1:15pm.

Formal Tasting:
Sit down with a member of the Blue Mountain Cider staff for a guided tasting of both current and seasonal cider selections from the Walla Walla Valley and the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater. Guests will learn the nuances of varietal, ageing potential, and growing region and will get a more in depth tasting experience then can be offered at the tap house bar. The tastings are accompanied by visual references, maps, and soil samples for a complete educational experience. Formal tastings are available by appointment only but can be accommodated most days with 24 hours notice.
