History of Blue Mountain Cider

Crafting Premium Dry Cider from the Heart of the Walla Walla Valley

Blue Mountain Cider was established in the picturesque Walla Walla Valley, specifically in Milton- Freewater, Oregon, in the early 2000s. As one of the oldest cideries in the Pacific Northwest, it was born from a passion for crafting high-quality, naturally fermented cider. The founders, driven by a commitment to the local agricultural community, began sourcing fresh apples from the valley’s abundant orchards, where the climate and soil conditions are ideal for apple cultivation.

From the outset, Blue Mountain Cider focused on producing dry ciders, distinguishing itself in a market often dominated by sweeter options. The philosophy was simple: to let the natural flavors of the apples shine through, emphasizing the terroir of the Walla Walla Valley. This dedication to quality meant that all juice was pressed on-site, ensuring freshness and capturing the unique characteristics of the region’s apples.

Today, Blue Mountain Cider stands as a testament to the passion and dedication of its founders and the vibrant agricultural heritage of the region. As one of the pioneering cideries in the Pacific Northwest, it continues to innovate while honoring the traditional methods that have defined its history. With a focus on low-sugar, dry ciders crafted from freshly pressed apples and locally sourced fruits, Blue Mountain Cider remains a beloved choice for those seeking a true taste of the Walla Walla Valley.

Looking to the future, Blue Mountain Cider aims to expand its reach, sharing its story and unique ciders with an even broader audience while continuing to nurture its deep-rooted connections to the land and community.
